SenCere develops high-tech, innovative products that make it easier for patients and caregivers to avoid the occurrence of pressure ulcers. Our unique pressure ulcer alarm warns when an individual has a high local load in a bony prominent area and is at risk to suffer from a pressure sore, and must be relieved (patent pending). SenCere’s product development is based on results of own clinical research on physiological mechanisms of pressure ulcer formation.

Pressure ulcers
Pressure ulcers cost the Swedish health care system up to SEK 1.5 billion annually, and are common in immobile individuals who often spend much time of the day sitting in a wheelchair or lying in bed. Persons at risk develop pressure sores if they do not relieve pressure enough frequently.  The only measure currently available is to continually relieve the affected areas.

SenCere’s Relief Alarm^TM
SenCere’s Relief AlarmTM is a pressure load measuring unit with an integrated sensor mat, which measures pressure over time. The sensor mat is placed under a person at risk of pressure ulcers.
With software programming built on SenCere’s own research, the invention can interpret the pressure situation and warn when a person is experiencing damaging local pressure. The patient can then on his or her own or with the help of staff initiate pressure relief, before tissue damage occurs.
The alarm is incorporated into existing pillow or mattress covers, which gives the user a very convenient and easy solution.

A Unique Product
The unique properties of SenCere’s alarm warns the user when the local quantitative load becomes harmful, whereas other products on the market have alarms based on time measurements or work by distributing pressure.
Our product is under development, and SenCere has so far developed a functional prototype and carried out studies on volunteers.
